CARL NOWACK
Research Assistant, McGill University
Carl is a fourth-year geography (urban studies) undergrad focusing on leveraging GIS for equitable urban transit. As an active member of the global geospatial community, Carl is working for the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and partnering with organizations such as AmeriGEO, USGS, CONIDA, and PAIGH to support capacity development in the Americas. As part of his capacity development work, Carl has lead training workshop and meetings with industry partners, Nobel laureates, and leaders from the scientific community and government on topics ranging from spatial data infrastructure to disaster preparedness and management tools. As part of his work with ResNet, Carl curates and assembles geospatial data for dashboard development to expand the community’s capacity to leverage ecosystem services data for decision making.
