There is a seemingly endless list of environmental and humanitarian crises shaping the world today, perhaps the most pervasive being the impact of climate change on the world’s most critical ecosystems and vulnerable people. Food connects all people to the earth and to each other, so in these times of crises researching food system transformation is vital to ensure the health of current and future generations. Elisha Robbins is a social science researcher interested in learning how communities navigate their food system and the means through which capacity and resilience to climate change can be built. Her work is currently focused on Indigenous communities in Northern Ontario, where she is exploring how different components of the food system are connected to food security. These components will be analyzed to understand how climate change may alter or disrupt the functioning of the food system and how this can be mitigated.
