I study plant communities with a focus on ecosystem services, species coexistence, and the role of environmental heterogeneity in structuring communities. My lab works on barrens, heathlands, tidal wetlands, green roofs and urban ecosystems. We test practical applications of community and ecosystem ecology through ecological engineering and restoration.
