MSc Candidate | Simon Fraser University | Landscape 5
I am currently a Master's of Science Candidate supervised by Dr. Wendy Palen at Simon Fraser University. We are part of the Earth2Ocean Research Group under the Department of Biological Sciences, a group interested in tackling environmental issues using quantitative tools. I previously attended the University of Guelph in Ontario, where I completed a BSc in Marine and Freshwater Biology and a BA in English. My senior undergraduate honours thesis was focused on the effects of environmental hypoxia on the gill morphology of yellow perch.
As part of the Landscape 5 Team I am interested in the cumulative impacts of renewable energy development on the broader environmental landscape. My research currently looks at the relationship between endangered woodland caribou populations and fragmenting linear features in the territories of the West Moberly First Nation and the Saulteau First Nation (Peace River Region, BC). Through my project I hope to develop a quantitative framework that can complement the decision-making process when selecting restoration sites in caribou habitat. |
