OSCAR VENTER
Associate Professor, Conservation Science and Practice, University of Northern British Columbia; Ecosystem Science and Management; Forest Ecology & Management; NRES Graduate Program
CO-APPLICANT, LANDSCAPE 5
Dr. Venter’s research integrates the disciplines of conservation biology, forestry, economics and landscape design to understand the trade-offs and synergies among economic production, ecosystem services and conservation in forested ecosystems. He undertakes this work through applied and policy relevant case studies at broad and regional scales using geographic information systems (GIS), ecological economics and simulation modelling. He has a strong interest in forest management and conservation issues in the tropics, especially South East Asia, and BC-focused research is currently an emerging area of research for his group.
