Oveka is interested in the use of science, technology, and community/stakeholders’ engagement to explore interdisciplinary concepts for policies, planning and management. Her current research seeks to support communities within the Northern Ontario by developing strategies to enhance agricultural production while building resilience. Her research recognizes the dynamics in changing climate and intends to develop a codesigned predictive model using Remote Sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) , and Machine Learning (ML) technologies to understand land use changes, soil fertility, crop production, carbon sequestration, climate changes and impact . Its focus is to enable improvement in yields, build sustainable resilience, strengthen food systems, and food security.
